TechWorks Marine has delivered on a contract to carry out an ADCP survey on a Tidal Energy site West of Islay for DP Marine Energy Ltd.
As part of this contract, TechWorks Marine deployed 3 Nortek AWAC sensors at selected sites looking specifically at currents through the water column and wave activity in this very dynamic tidal site.
Following the deployment of the seabed frames an ADCP transect survey aboard the RV Aora was carried out. After 67 days of measurement, the three AWAC seabed frames were recovered.
During the data collection survey high currents were recorded as well as a maximum wave height in excess of 12m. The data collected during this survey is being used for modelling of predicted yield and sediment transfer for the site which has recently been awarded a site agreement for a Commercial Lease (“Saltire Prize” lease) fromThe Crown Estate.
