Embedded Developer

Based in Dun Laoghaire TechWorks Marine is a dynamic and innovative company which designs and manufacturers marine data acquisition systems. As part of our expansion we are looking to recruit an experienced embedded engineer with significant software experience to join our expanding R&D team.

We currently have a number of on-going projects which require an embedded developer, who is flexible, self-motivated and able to work as part of a team. They should also be seeking to take responsibility for the implementation, configuration and management of various projects. There may be some element of technical support and related field activity as part of this position.

 

 

The Applicant

  • Minimum BEng in Electronic Engineering

  • A least 3 years’ experience of embedded C/C++ software development

  • Experience with Python essential

  • Knowledgeable work experience of a Linux based environment essential especially, embedded Linux development, Linux kernel and driver

  • Knowledge of GIT and Subversion a distinct advantage

  • Basic system administrator experience

  • Project management experience an advantage

  • Proven interpersonal skills with an ability to lead and direct a team

  • Experience with Test Driven Development

  • Experience of planning, estimating project lead times and costs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English

Marine Scientist with Field experience wanted.

TechWorks Marine is a provider of oceanographic equipment and services in the private and public sectors internationally.  Founded in 2002, we specialise in the integration of real-time marine monitoring equipment and sales/rental of a wide range of metocean (meteorological and oceanographic) sensors and instrumentation.   Our integrated products are based around the TechWorks Marine Black Box (TMBB) data acquisition and transmission systems.  We also offer full integration, installation, survey, technical support and data management services to our clients to support them through the life-cycle of their project.  Client sectors include Statutory Monitoring, Marine Renewables, Engineering and Aquaculture.

Qualifications, Experience and skillset required

Applications are invited for a Marine Scientist with 2-3 years commercial sector experience preferably in the Marine Renewable sector.

As a valuable member of a small team you will be principally involved in providing technical support to commercial projects there is also scope to develop research projects in specific areas. You will have experience of fieldwork using standard observational techniques, analysing oceanographic data (geospatial, time series), quality control of data, report writing and presenting data reports.  You will be involved in the identifying potential projects and assist in the development of proposals.

You must be a team worker, poses good communication skills and be able to work to deadlines.  The position involves field work and as such you need to be flexible.

The successful candidate will also meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Marine Science or similar field.
  • Direct oceanographic survey experience, including: ADCP and Wave Buoy deployment, Tide gauges, Met. Stations, ADCP transects.
  • Experience of the analysis and interpretation of common metocean datasets
  • Demonstrable experience of managing projects
  • Highly numerate with competence in MS Office and common data analysis software (e.g. Matlab, Surfer), and basic knowledge of programming Python, PERL
  • Good communicator, with an ability to communicate successfully to a variety of audiences;
  • Possess high level writing skills, and be prepared to assist in the development of proposals;
  • Effective team player;
  • An ability to meet project milestones.
  • Remote sensing and image processing skills (not essential)

The position will be based at our offices in Dublin, Ireland.  It is expect that field work/travel will amount for up to 20% of your time.

Sales Manager

An Ambitious Sales Manager is required to join the team at TechWorks Marine.  The ideal candidate should be a dynamic, motivated individual with a strong background in sales, capable of working independently to achieve the company’s sales targets, or someone looking to progress their career within the aquaculture/marine sector who possesses some past sales experience.

Requirements:
The successful candidate must have:
A Degree or Masters in Science/Engineering
Proven sales track record, preferably in the marine sector
A clean driver’s license

Duties:
Based in Dublin, and responsible for integrated data platform, sensors and service sales both in Ireland and abroad.  Primary duties include:
Maintaining and further developing existing client base, including current and future project plans.
Developing new clients in both the domestic market and internationally, and developing sales strategies linked to these.
Responding to sales queries and following up on these
Monitoring relevant tenders listings for new opportunities.
Market research and development of marketing and sales plans.
Input into management reports.
Preparation of sales forecasts and projections.
Provide regular updates on marketing/sales activities.

The successful applicant will be proactive and have a proven sales background within the sector, experience in marine science is an advantage.  You should be confident and able to present to customers both in terms of selling but also technical understand of the customer’s needs and requirement.  The position will include regular travel both in Ireland and internationally.
